Waste Management to Acquire Stericycle
Image: Waste Management’s shares have done quite well the past 12-18 months. The oligopolistic nature of the waste business is something that we like a lot, and while Waste Management’s deal for Stericycle will be more complementary in nature bringing in an incremental suite of medical waste and secure information destruction services, we have no qualms with the acquisition. Costco’s Comparable Store Sales Deliver
Image Source: Costco. On May 30, Costco reported solid third quarter results for its fiscal 2024 period ended May 12. Net sales for the quarter increased 9.1% thanks to total company adjusted comparable sales performance of 6.5% and e-commerce growth of 20.7%. We like Costco’s business quite a bit, but shares are trading at quite the lofty earnings multiple (~50 times fiscal 2024 earnings expectations). We’d wait for a meaningful pull back in shares before taking interest in the name. Jun 1, 2024

In the News: CRM, FL, DG, BBY
Image Source: Mike Mozart. Salesforce issued a weaker-than-expected outlook for its fiscal second quarter 2025, and shares have been punished following the report. Foot Locker's bottom-line guidance for its full year pleased the Street, while Dollar General continues to benefit from increased store traffic. Best Buy's comparable store sales remain under considerable pressure, but the big box retailer is managing expenses well. May 29, 2024

Accenture Facing Revenue Growth Pressures But Stock Is Worth a Look
Image: Accenture is facing revenue growth pressure, but the company’s financials remain resilient. We’re concerned about Accenture’s downward financial guidance revisions in March and pressure on demand growth for its IT and consulting services, but Accenture’s free cash flow generation remains robust, its balance sheet remains solid, and new bookings growth remains healthy with exposure to AI. Accenture pays a healthy dividend, and the firm continues to buy back stock. The company checks a lot of the boxes that we’d be looking for in a new idea, but we’d like to see evidence of revenue growth improvement before growing interested in adding the company to any newsletter portfolio. We remain on the sidelines for now. May 23, 2024

Nvidia continues to be the poster child for the AI revolution, and its first-quarter fiscal 2025 results delivered on the high expectations embedded in the company’s stock. The firm announced a 10-for-1 stock split, while it raised its quarterly cash dividend 150%.
