Microsoft Posts Fiscal Second-Quarter Results; Shares Remain Cheap
Microsoft reported fiscal second-quarter results that showed a slowdown in PC sales due to the Thailand flooding but operating-income improvement in its Server/Tools segment and Business Division. We maintain the firm's shares are significantly undervalued.

IBM Posts Solid Fourth-Quarter Results; Software Continues to Drive Performance
IBM's fourth quarter capped off a year of record earnings per share, revenue, profit, and free cash flow. Though revenue growth was modest during the period, we believe it was weighed down more by the timing of hardware product launches than any broad-based weakness. We'd be looking to pick up the shares if they fell below the lower bound of our fair value range.

Google's Fourth-Quarter Misses on European Weakness, Ad Pricing Declines
Google reported disappointing fourth-quarter results that showed modest earnings expansion and lower revenue from its advertisements (cost-per-click). We think such a let-down was driven by a heightened competitive environment for advertising and general weakness in Europe.

Lululemon Raises Guidance; Our Valuation Remains Unchanged
With room for growth both in North America and abroad, we think Lululemon remains a growth company that could yield high returns for those with high risk tolerance. However, with shares trading up from $42 to $60 in less than a month, we'd wait for a larger margin of safety before getting too excited about the name.

Life Technologies announced that it has begun accepting orders for a product named the Ion Proton Sequencer that could sequence a person's entire genome in just one day (more expensive, competing machines can take weeks or longer to do the same procedure). We had been expecting valuation upside from the firm, and its shares have now converged to our $47 fair value estimate.
