This Stock Market Doesn't Scare Me
Image Source: EpicTop10.com. Markets are forward looking, and it's very likely we'll see a nice bounce back to north of $200 in S&P 500 earnings per share in 2022 or 2023 (pre-COVID-19 numbers were an achievable $196 per share for 2021), meaning that after the next few months, with political risk now behind us at that time, too, come January 2021, the markets, today, imply they are trading at 16-17x forward earnings, a very reasonable multiple given the Fed/Treasury "put" and the implicit "backing" via equity purchases coupled with the prospect for inflation. Frankly, I'm just not understanding the bears. Right now, the market is experiencing some profit taking, some hedging, some rotation, but not much more than this.

Apple Reportedly Launching 5G iPhone Soon
Image Shown: Shares of Best Ideas Newsletter and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio holding Apple Inc have continued to surge higher this year. The tech giant is supported by strong demand for its hardware offerings, the launch of new services, and growing demand for its existing services. We are intrigued by the upcoming launch of its first 5G-capable iPhone, which is reportedly due to be released this Fall. Very recently, Bloomberg reported that Apple is asking its suppliers to get ready to deliver at least 75 million 5G iPhones later this year, which may grow as high as 80 million. What makes these targets particularly noteworthy is that it appears Apple is expecting demand for its upcoming iPhones to either match or exceed that of the demand for its iPhones last year, indicating the ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic has not shaken Apple’s confidence in its near-term outlook. Additionally, this would represent Apple’s first 5G-capable iPhone if the reports are true, which represents a major potential near-term growth catalyst.

ALERT: Markets Now Fairly Valued
Image Source: Sam Valadi. Long-term investing is a great proposition. You have an incredible advantage over most professional investors that have to deliver on a quarterly or annual basis. The reason is due to something called time horizon arbitrage.

Facebook Hits Another All-Time High!
Image: The Valuentum Buying Index is not a stair-step trading strategy, and we view only 9s and 10s and 1s and 2s as material considerations to consider buying or consider selling criteria. We have held prior 9s and 10s in the newsletter portfolios until they reach our fair value estimates, until their technicals roll over, until they register ratings of 1 or 2 on the VBI, or due to changes in certain criteria with respect to market conditions or overall portfolio constitution. Our best ideas remain in the newsletter portfolios and Exclusive publication.Top-weighted idea in the Best Ideas Newsletter portfolio Facebook has hit another all-time high!

Lyft Can’t Run on Fumes Forever
Image Shown: Lyft Inc’s business model is not well suited for the pandemic. Its financial performance was decimated during the second quarter of 2020 as its active rider base opted to stay home or use other methods of transportation. Image Source: Lyft Inc – Second Quarter of 2020 Supplemental Data. On August 12, the ridesharing company Lyft announced second quarter 2020 earnings that beat consensus bottom-line estimates but missed consensus top-line estimates. The ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic has posed a major headwind for Lyft due to workers commuting less, reduced demand from late-night bar patrons, and other factors. Management did note within Lyft’s earnings release that rideshares were up 78% in the month of July 2020 versus April 2020 levels, indicating a recovery is underway, though the firm has a long way to go before getting back to pre-pandemic levels of revenue.

Cisco Responds to Near-Term Headwinds with Large Cost Cuts
Image Shown: Cisco Systems Inc’s financial performance held up well, relatively speaking, during the initial stages of the pandemic. Image Source: Cisco Systems Inc – Fourth Quarter of Fiscal 2020 IR Earnings Presentation. On August 12, Cisco Systems reported fourth quarter fiscal 2020 earnings (period ended July 25, 2020) that beat consensus estimates on both the top- and bottom-lines. However, Cisco’s outlook for the current fiscal quarter was weaker than expected which weighed on shares of CSCO during normal trading hours on August 13. Cisco’s near-term performance is facing headwinds due to the ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic as many of its customers are delaying projects until after the storm has passed. With that in mind, Cisco remained a free cash flow cow last fiscal year and that is likely to continue going forward, which supports its ability to continue paying meaningful dividends. Cisco’s strong cash flow profile is further supported by its pristine balance sheet, and we continue to like the firm as a holding in both our Best Ideas Newsletter and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolios. Shares of CSCO yield ~3.4% as of this writing. Please note that Cisco recently announced its CFO for the past five years, Kelly Kramer, plans to leave the company once her replacement has been found.

Apple Surges Higher Ahead of Stock Split
Image Shown: Shares of Apple Inc have staged an impressive rally since bouncing off their March 2020 lows, with AAPL up ~46% year-to-date as of this writing on August 3. We added shares of Apple back to the Best Ideas Newsletter and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolios on June 12, 2020. Later on this August, Apple intends on completing a four-for-one stock split. We added Apple back to both the Best Ideas Newsletter and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolios on June 12, 2020 (link here). Companies that are supported by secular growth tailwinds and pristine balance sheets, such as Apple, are well-positioned to deal with the ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic. Shares of AAPL have surged significantly higher since mid-June and are now trading well above the top end of our fair value range as of this writing, but we want to stress here that we like to let our winners run. It is not until after a firm’s technicals turn against it that we would consider removing shares of that firm from our newsletter portfolios. Given its stellar third quarter fiscal 2020 earnings report (period ended June 27, 2020) published on July 27, shares of Apple may have room to run further still.

Our Judgment for the Long Haul
As you're probably aware by now, Apple, Alphabet, and Facebook--key positions in the newsletter portfolios--put up monster second-quarter results July 30, respectively. We'll be addressing the quarterly reports more in depth on our website in the coming days, but Apple is now a ~$410 per share stock, trading up 6%+ on the session, and now Facebook is trading over $250, up 7%+ on the session. Now at all-time highs, Facebook has been one of the top weightings in the Best Ideas Newsletter portfolio for some time. Its poor performance during 2018 is now history! Alphabet, while facing some weakness today, hit all-time highs earlier this month.

Why We Like Apple and Microsoft in the Newsletter Portfolios
Image Shown: Shares of Apple Inc (blue line) and Microsoft Corporation (red line) are up significantly year-to-date as of the market close on June 19, and we see room for both shares of AAPL and MSFT to continue marching higher after recently revising our fair value estimates for both companies. On June 12, we added back shares of Apple and Microsoft Corp to both the Best Ideas Newsletter portfolio and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio. We added Apple and Microsoft back to the newsletter portfolios using the cash position generated by removing the Vanguard Real Estate ETF and the SPDR S&P Aerospace and Defense ETF from the Best Ideas Newsletter portfolio and Cracker Barrel and Bank of America Corp from the Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio on June 11. The Best Ideas Newsletter portfolio (link here) and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio (link here), as of June 15, 2020, can be viewed on our website. There are a lot of reasons to like Apple and Microsoft, especially during these turbulent times. Both firms have massive net cash positions, better positioning the tech giants to ride out the storm created by the ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic. Both companies are free cash flow cows and their growth trajectories are underpinned by secular growth tailwinds (particularly on the cloud computing and digitally-provided services side of things), further bolstering their cash flow profiles.

Turbulent Fiscal Fourth Quarter Aside, Oracle Paints a Promising Outlook for Fiscal 2021
Image Source: Oracle Corporation – Oracle Database Update September 2019 Presentation. On June 16, Oracle Corp reported fourth quarter fiscal 2020 earnings (period ended May 31, 2020) that beat consensus bottom-line estimates and missed consensus top-line estimates, though there is some noise given the turbulence created by the ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic. Additionally, Oracle declared a $0.24 per share quarterly dividend that is slated to get paid out in July, which was flat on a sequential basis. Shares of ORCL yield ~1.8% as of this writing, and we continue to like the idea as a holding in the Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio. While shares of ORCL sold off on June 17, management painted a more optimistic outlook for the firm’s fiscal 2021 performance than initial trading action suggests.
